Our Team

  • Jeffery Jones has a diverse background in management consulting and intelligence analysis, with industry expertise in oil & gas as well as utilities. With a keen eye for global opportunities, Jeffery has successfully navigated international landscapes, bringing valuable insights and solutions to organizations.

    Building on his passion for global affairs, Jeffery joined the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). As a CIA Officer, he specialized in analysis and risk assessment, utilizing his expertise in international operations.

    Later as a management consultant, Jeffery honed his analytical and problem-solving skills, helping businesses improve efficiency, optimize operations, and drive growth.

    Jeffery desired to make a more tangible impact and identified an untapped potential in emerging markets. Recognizing that enterprises needed more than passive investing to thrive, he embarked on a new venture. By founding Emerging Market Partners, Jeffery aimed to bridge the gap between passive investment strategies and proactive, hands-on support for businesses operating in emerging markets.

    Jeffery earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tulane University, Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech, and MBA from Oxford University.

  • Dhaval Garag is a consulting executive with +15 years of experience advising Fortune 100 and middle-market clients and specializes in incubation of businesses, growth strategy, sale of companies or business units, maximizing transaction value of assets, optimizing cash-flows, and developing transformative corporate strategies to generate superior shareholder returns. Dhaval has worked across multiple industries, including consumer products, financial services and financial technology, and educational services, and across four continents.

    In addition to his professional experience, Dhaval grew up in three countries (India, Indonesia, and the US) which allow him to work with different cultures and business environments.

    He aims to bring the experience from advising Fortune 100 clients to companies in emerging markets to help them on their growth journey.

    He earned his Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Illinois, and his MBA from the University of Michigan.

  • Laird Treiber was a career member of the Senior Foreign Service in the State Department. He worked most recently as the State Department’s Senior Liaison for Prosper Africa, the Administration’s program to promote trade and investment between the U.S. and Africa. He previously served as the Economic Minister Counselor at the U.S. Embassies in South Africa, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, as well as earlier tours in Poland, Mexico and Washington. From 2018-19, the State Department detailed Laird as the Senior Adviser to the President of the Corporate Council on Africa, where he helped organize several major international trade and investment conferences. Laird has worked extensively on issues related to energy, environment and climate change, finance, trade, Intellectual Property Rights and aviation.

    Laird has travelled extensively, including throughout Africa. Over the course of his career, Laird has developed broad experience counseling U.S. and foreign companies on how to evaluate economic and political risk. Laird received a BS from Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service, an MIA from Columbia and a Masters of Security Studies from National Defense University. Laird is also a Senior Associate (non-resident) at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, DC.
